Todays post is going to be a simple, everyday makeup look that I wear most days unless I’m going somewhere exciting or not wearing any makeup at all.
Personally, I usually wear quite dark colours with a range of matte and shimmer on the eyes and a dark, berry, vampy toned lip. On simple makeup days I like to wear a soft eye and a pinky, neutral lip.
So here’s my “Everyday Makeup Look”
Moisturising and Priming
My skin is a combination of both oily and dry. At the moment it is especially dry so I have to keep my skin as hydrated as possible. so therefore I moisturise before putting any primer or makeup on.
All I use to moisturise my skin is E45!! Its so simple and cheap but its really good for my skin.
For primer I use Mac Fix plus. Yes, I know it’s not really primer but it has glycerine in it which helps your make-up stick to your face which makes it last longer. I love this as it feels so refreshing when I spray it on my face. i also sometimes use it as a setting spray once i have finished my makeup.
For an everyday look, I prefer to wear a BB Cream rather than a Foundation because I find BB Creams much lighter and easier to wear than foundation. I use the MAC Prep and Prime BB cream and I find that it leaves my skin looking very dewy and awake even after only one layer. It comes out of the packaging and it looks quite thick but it’s very blendable and its not heavy at all which was my main concern at first. It also has SPF 35 in it which is great if you are on holiday or in the summer when you want to wear light and fresh looking makeup which also protects your skin. Which is always a bonus!
Seen as I have quite a few blemishes and spots on my skin, concealer is my personal lifesaver. I don’t think I could live without it. I have tried quite a few different ones but they haven’t really worked for me. “Rimmel wake me up” doesn’t have enough coverage for me but I sometimes use it under my eyes. “Collection Lasting Perfection” had really good coverage but it wasn’t very blendable at all and I found it quite orange on my skin tone. And then I finally found “Maybelline Fit Me” which I now love. It’s so blendable, has great coverage and has the perfect undertones for my olive complexion.
The only powder I ever use now is the MAC Studio Fix. Technically it is a “powder foundation” as it is quite heavy but I like to use it over foundation or BB cream because it just adds that little bit more coverage which I love. I love this powder so much and I even sometimes just use it on its own for school or something. It’s just so easy!
Highlight and Contour/Bronzer
Highlighting is my most favourite thing to do when it comes to putting on a bitta make-up. I just love turning into the light and seeing the shimmer of the most amazing gold, silver or champagne shades reflecting back into my mirror. I use the MAC Mineralise Skin Finish in “Lightscapade”. I have been using this religiously since last christmas and I just love so much.
Something that I have just got into recently is contouring!! I am now in love! Before, I never really thought much of my cheekbones but now when I put on that contour I feel like Kylie Jenner! Only joking, I wish! I use the “Maybelline Master Sculpt”. To be honest with you here I don’t really like it that much, it’s not as pigmented as I would like it to be but it’s good enough. However I will be buying a new cool toned bronzer very soon!! I also love to just bronze up my skin even if i’m not going for that mega chizzled cheekbone look that everyone raves about.
Eyeshadow and Mascara
For my eyes on a daily basis not including special occasions or anything, I go for a subtle look. Sometimes I add a little bit of shimmer if i’m feeling adventurous but that’s not very often. I normally use the “Too Faced Chocolate Bar” palette which I fell in love with the moment I got it!! I like to use 2 colours and I use both in the crease and then gradually bring them down a little bit onto my lid. I prefer them in the crease as they just give my eye that little bit more definition and shape.
I like my eyelashes to look long and luscious and quite dramatic. I love both the benefit mascaras: “They’re real” and “Rollerlash”. However the one that I have been reaching for the most the past few months is “Rollerlash”. It just lengthens my lashes an unreal amount and I just love it! I don’t know what else to say except I love it!!
Naturally, my brows are very dark and relatively thick, so I find it quite tricky to get them just right; not to dark and heavy because I don’t want to look like a complete idiot. I find that it is much easier to fill my eyebrows in with an eyeshadow or powder rather than a brow pencil. But that is just my personal preference. I use a Bobbi Brown eyeshadow in the shade “Mahogany”. It is a really cool toned dark, dark brown/grey (almost black).
On a natural makeup day, I like to wear quite a simple, neutral colour just to bring the whole look together. I like to use a MAC lipstick in the colour “Syrup”. This is quite a warm, pink nude colour and I really love it. You could also make it more dramatic by wearing it over MAC lipliner in the shade “Soar”.
